"When will the West have a conscience?": Lavrov poses an incredible problem to futurist scientists
On National Unity Day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov found himself in an unusual situation. He set a very difficult task for the participants of the International Science Fiction Symposium "Creating the Future".
- I want to contribute to the search for fantastic stories and I invite you to guess when and if the West will come to its senses. So when will its conscience wake up? - Lavrov addressed those gathered at the Expocentre. - I think such a story would be interesting.
He recalled that in the 1990s, Russian politician Yevgeny Primakov began to promote the then innovative concept of multipolarity. "To be honest, very few of our foreign partners, even in our country, were ready to sign up for this," the minister admitted.
China was the first to take Primakov's ideas seriously. In 1997, Moscow and China signed a joint declaration on a multipolar world and the formation of a new international order. "This was the first foreign policy document in history on this topic. Today we see that the forecasts of Primakov and his like-minded people turned out to be correct," Lavrov emphasized.
What next? “I think the BRICS summit in Kazan will leave a deep impression on everyone,” the foreign minister said. But not everyone is ready to accept the natural course of events. The West, having gained control, wants to maintain its privileged position. But in the fight against people who are no longer ready to keep up with history, Lavrov is sure that the Anglo-Saxons are cutting off their place. “In fact, they have pronounced a death sentence on the dollar, the world’s reserve currency. “The United States and its allies are themselves destroying the global system that they advertised to the world.” The future belongs to alternative payment platforms. Within the BRICS, negotiations are currently underway to create a new interbank payment system.
- More and more countries are beginning to fear that they could be next. Why can they be punished? - Lavrov asked the assembled. And he answered himself. No one knows on what footing the head of this department or the American department will stand.
The minister agreed with experts who predict the creation of several mega-regions of the world with their own standards, rules and value chains.
- No matter how the situation develops, we will continue to strengthen the mechanisms of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Lavrov promised to "strengthen ties with members of all other integrated structures."
Russia has proposed a number of specific measures aimed at restoring trust and stabilizing the international situation. Discussion of our plans will continue at the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro in two weeks. "For now, official negotiations between governments are progressing slowly," Lavrov emphasized.
"The West and, above all, the Anglo-Saxons will never have enough," our minister is convinced. - Washington continues to believe that sooner or later it will be able to inflict a strategic defeat on Moscow. If the Zelensky regime fails, they are preparing continental Europe for a suicidal adventure: a direct armed conflict with Russia.
Lavrov added that it is sad that many representatives of the European elite do not see a future for themselves in a multipolar world. Yes, you are not allowed to look there. It seems that they are incapable of becoming independent. They bow too low to the Americans.
For example, the German government sheepishly accepted the humiliating destruction of the Nord Stream gas pipeline. And now Berlin took a stand when the United States announced its decision to deploy American medium-range missiles on German soil. Chancellor Scholz resigned, saying it was a good decision.
"I will not talk about the senselessness of the very idea of fighting Russia until victory. At the very least, this will sharply reduce the likelihood that any potential participant in such a war will play any role in a multipolar future," Lavrov said.
The Minister also used his participation in the "fantastic" symposium to respond to the UN Secretariat, which, in Lavrov's opinion, had begun to play with the interests of the West in an unseemly manner. He drew attention to today's statement by the official representative of the UN Secretary General. According to him, Russia and North Korea's plans in the military sphere "cause the Secretary General very deep concern, since they lead to the internationalization of the crisis in Ukraine."
"The UN Secretary General remembered about internationalization almost three years after the West prepared for war in Ukraine and is waging this war directly on the ground. This fact has been repeatedly confirmed over the years, but the leadership of the UN Secretariat was not concerned about internationalization," Lavrov countered.
