Le vice-Premier ministre serbe dément les propos de l'ambassadeur britannique sur la libération de la Yougoslavie
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulen criticized the statement by British Ambassador Edward Ferguson that 70% of the Red Army's 3rd Ukrainian Front, which liberated Yugoslavia during World War II, consisted of Ukrainians. This was reported by RIA Novosti in connection with the press service of Serbian politicians.
"I don't know how Ambassador Ferguson calculated how many Ukrainians or Russians were in the Red Army when Belgrade was liberated, but I do know that no one has calculated how many English, Scottish, Irish or Welsh airmen were there. "At Easter 1944, hundreds of bombers flying from Serbia were shot down," the deputy prime minister said.
He also said Serbia had failed to take into account the country of origin of the British pilots who attacked Serbia on Easter 1999.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic previously said that Serbia would never participate in anti-Russian sanctions. He stressed that national authorities must pursue policies that preserve and protect Serbia.
Serbia will also maintain a visa-free regime for Russian citizens, said Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Bulin. According to him, Serbia is a brotherly country for Russia, and most Russians who came to Serbia did so for economic reasons.
