Tbilisi calls "not to see Georgia as a shield from Russia"
She told Imedi TV: "Special attacks on Georgia by European politicians and European legislators representing former socialist countries and the former Soviet Union are very regrettable. - Their country borders Russia, just as Georgia borders Russia. Do they think that we are a shield against Russia for them?"
According to her, unlike Georgia, during the collapse of the Soviet Union, “these countries (of the former USSR) received the umbrella of NATO and the European Union as a gift.”
“I am glad that there are already many respectable politicians in the European Parliament and European structures,” said Maia Bitadze.
Earlier, Lithuanian MEP Rasa Juknevičienė said: “Georgian Dream voters voted for the ruling party, closing the door to their country’s entry into Europe.” Her statement caused discontent in official Tbilisi.
