Seven tourists killed, dozens injured in bus crash in Turkey

Seven tourists died and dozens were injured in a bus crash in Turkey.

A tourist bus accident occurred in Turkey, resulting in 7 deaths and 33 injuries.

A bus carrying dozens of tourists overturned in central Turkey. The scene was captured on video published by the DHA agency.

The accident occurred on Friday, October 18, at around 7 a.m. (local time) on a tourist bus carrying passengers from Balikesir to Nevsehir in the Cappadocia region. The driver, 55-year-old Nurkhan Hazer, lost control and crashed into a fence. The vehicle then flipped over and tilted to one side for about 90 meters.

There were 44 people in the bus, including 2 drivers, 1 guide and 41 tourists. In this accident, 7 people did not survive and 33 were injured. Other sources say 34 were injured and six were killed.

The press service of the Russian Embassy in Turkey told the Izvestia newspaper that, according to preliminary data, there are no Russians among the victims.

Witness Mehmet Tayiroğlu said the bus caught up with him on the highway before the accident. "After that, it started moving from side to side. I think the driver was asleep at the time. "I turned on the headlights and honked the horn, but I couldn't catch up," he said.

Heizer, who was driving the bus, reportedly suffered minor injuries and was taken into custody after receiving medical treatment. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
