Lvova-Belova: Child abandoned at Antalya airport granted Russian citizenship

A newborn baby, abandoned by its mother in a bathtub at Antalya airport, has received Russian citizenship. This fact was reported to RIA Novosti through the press service of the presidential administration for children's rights, Maria Lvova-Belova.

The press service reported that the child was placed in a medical facility in Turkey. At the Russian Consulate General in Antalya, the girl was granted Russian citizenship and a note confirming its existence was made in her birth certificate.

The diplomats also sent a report to the Turkish authorities about their intention to return the girl to Russia.

The incident was reported on October 14. A cleaning lady found a newborn girl in the bathroom at the Antalya airport. The child was rushed to the hospital, and the police detained her Russian mother, Ekaterina Burnaskina, who was in Turkey with the tourist. A criminal case was opened against her.
