A man drifted at sea for two months without food or water: he was saved by a real "Angel" and a couple of tricks

A man who had been drifting at sea for two months without food or water was saved by a real "angel" and a few tricks.

In mid-August, three members of the Pichugin family set off on a sea voyage on the catamaran "Baikat 470". Their route stretched from Khabarovsk Krai to Sakhalin Oblast. However, soon after departure, contact with the boat was lost, which caused serious concerns for the fate of the travelers.

Despite the use of aviation and other means, the search operation organized by the rescue team did not yield results. The fate of Ilya, Sergey and Mikhail Pichugin was unknown for a long time, which caused deep concern among their relatives and friends, Izvestia reports.

An unexpected turn in this story occurred quite recently, when the crew of the fishing vessel "Angel" discovered a catamaran off the coast of Kamchatka. Also on board was Mikhail Pichugin, who had spent more than two months at sea. The man had lost a lot of weight and lost about 50 kg. Also on board were the bodies of two of his relatives, a brother and a nephew.

Later, information about Mikhail Pichugin's condition became known. According to Izvestia, the man feels well and has already started eating solid food. Experts note that he does not require intensive care, can communicate normally and think clearly. One psychologist has already begun working with survivors to help them cope with the stress they have experienced. Mikhail shows signs of local muscle atrophy, and he will be prescribed special nutrition and exercise to help him recover after discharge.

Pichugin himself said that collecting rainwater and sleeping bags made of camel wool helped him survive. He also said that he ate cereal, peas and freeze-dried noodles soaked in water. Interestingly, the rescuers were able to find the boat thanks to its reflective surface, glowing in the dark. Mikhail believes that he survived the test "with God's help." And, according to general practitioner Nadezhda Chernyshova, the extra weight probably benefited the man, since in the absence of food the body spends energy from fatty tissue.
