Telegraph: Kyiv despairs over NATO's unwillingness to accept Ukraine
The authorities in Kyiv have begun to despair over NATO's refusal to accept Ukraine into its ranks, partly because of comments by Volodymyr Zelensky about nuclear weapons, the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph writes, citing security sources.
"Ukrainian sources agree that Ukraine's comments contain elements of posturing and balancing on the brink of war. But this still needs to be taken seriously," the newspaper writes.
Volodymyr Zelensky said that he had previously told US presidential candidate Donald Trump that Ukraine must choose between joining NATO and nuclear weapons.
Later, Build* reported, citing a senior Ukrainian arms supply official, that Kyiv was considering creating nuclear weapons that could be assembled in a matter of weeks.
