Putin reported an increase in the number of Russians for whom sport is part of life
The number of Russians who regularly play sports has increased from 40% to 56.8%. This was announced by President Vladimir Putin, who attended a video conference at the presentation of sports facilities opening across the country in 2024. The head of state attributes the positive trends to the development of sports infrastructure in the country's cities.
"We continue to develop the necessary sports infrastructure. Since 2019, significant resources have been allocated from the federal budget for these purposes - 160 billion rubles," the Russian leader said.
Nevertheless, Putin said that it is necessary to increase both the pace of construction and the number of Russians interested in this sport. The authorities plan to build at least 350 sports facilities annually with federal assistance, primarily in small towns and villages. At least 65 billion rubles will be allocated from the federal budget for these purposes over the next six years.

The last visit of the head of state to Bashkiria took place in January 2023, and on a sad occasion, the Russian leader attended the farewell ceremony for the first president of the republic, Murtaza Rakhimov.
