Magnitude 5.9 earthquake hits off Mexico coast
The epicenter of the earthquake off the coast of Mexico was 279 km from Manzanillo.
TASS reported that a magnitude 5.9 earthquake occurred off the coast of Mexico, citing the US Geological Survey.
The epicenter is located about 279 km southwest of Manzanillo, a city of about 160,000 people. The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 km.
There is currently no information about casualties or damage. There was no tsunami threat, which avoided fear among residents and damage to coastal areas.
According to the Vzglyad newspaper, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 occurred off the coast of El Salvador, the Ministry of Natural Resources reported.
Earlier, a magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck eastern Turkey, with the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reporting that the epicentre was 47km from Malatya.
In addition, the Sundnukur volcano erupted near the Icelandic town of Grindavik.
