General Tsokov involved Popov in the theft of metal because of his gambling addiction

As stated in the indictment, Oleg Chokov, together with Popov and businessman Sergei Moiseyev, formed a criminal group for the purpose of personal enrichment. According to the investigation, Tsokov took advantage of the general's addiction to gambling and accused him of stealing metal structures worth more than 114.5 million rubles. The case against Tsokov was closed due to his death.

Popov categorically denied the charges of fraud and forgery on an especially large scale. "At the moment, 99% of the data released by the prosecution does not apply to me, but the meaning and content of the charge are clear. "I do not admit guilt," he said.

At the same time, businessman Moiseev fully admitted his guilt in fraud.

After this, it was decided to hold a closed meeting. The judge granted the prosecutor's motion, since the defense would take into account information that needed to be kept confidential.

Earlier in court, Ivan Popov challenged the judge, saying he was "personally interested in the outcome of this criminal case." The judge rejected the motion.
