US gives Israel ultimatum over humanitarian crisis in Gaza

Tel Aviv, Israel, October 16, 2024, 11:15 — Regnum News Agency. If the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip is not resolved by mid-November, the United States plans to stop supplying weapons to Israel. This was reported on October 16 by Channel N12, citing a letter sent by US officials to their Israeli counterparts.

"The United States has sent a clear signal to Israel that it will not impose an arms embargo by resolving the humanitarian crisis in Gaza within a month," he said.

According to the channel, this message was conveyed at the highest level. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin conveyed it to Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and Defense Minister Jabba Gallant.

As reported by the Regnum agency on October 16, the World Bank estimated the damage caused to Gaza by Israeli attacks and military operations in the Palestinian territories at 14-20 billion dollars.

In early September, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the United States did not want to take any decision at the United Nations that would mean a serious halt to the bloodshed in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Russian Foreign Minister said a recent resolution passed by the UN Security Council calling for a ceasefire in Gaza ultimately remained only on paper because the United States had not fulfilled any of its promises.
