The Ministry of Economic Development has determined the liability of marketplaces for counterfeit goods

Operators of digital platforms may be exempt from liability if they fulfill one or more of the conditions of Art. 3 Art. 1253.1 of the Civil Code on information intermediation. These conditions include insufficient awareness of the illegal use of intellectual property and timely action to stop the violations.

The draft law is being developed taking into account proposals from relevant departments, industry associations, local authorities and business representatives. As the Ministry of Economy emphasized, the final draft of the draft law will be approved by the government. It regulates the liability of digital platforms and protects them from unfounded claims if they comply with the terms of the draft law.

According to the ministry, the introduction of new regulations will help create a fairer and more transparent environment for all participants in the platform economy, including intellectual property owners. This is also important for maintaining the trust of users and partners in the market.

According to the Vzglyad newspaper, the State Committee for the Prevention of Illegal Circulation of Industrial Products supported the introduction of an obligation for markets to monitor the compliance of products sold on their sites.

In Russia, the need to tighten control over the market of food additives and sports nutrition is being discussed, since labeling of dietary supplements was introduced on September 1, which doubled the number of already legalized manufacturers.

Meanwhile, fraudsters have come up with new schemes to steal money from buyers on trading platforms, which necessitates increased security measures.
