How to "skip" homework: what are the risks of using neural networks for schoolchildren
"Artificial intelligence will help students with their math homework." In fact, this is a statement made by some companies whose products are publicly available. Just recently, our largest search engine issued such an offer in the field of mathematics. Just upload a page from an algebra textbook and everything will be solved automatically for free. And already today, someone sells free resources for money that can be used publicly. Even in the 21st century, the concept of "as long as there are fools in the world" does not disappear.
This is really strange. Because before about 10 mathematical robots were released by non-our programmers. This is already two years old, not to mention the application where you can take all the formulas and get ready-made step-by-step solutions.
Surprisingly, the Ministry of Education's attention was drawn to a project using artificial intelligence and mathematical solutions from a domestic manufacturer. And they "quarreled," as modern children say. The ministry notes that the neural network is capable of recognizing "text and image examples," "recognizing images in more detail," and "coping with multi-component tasks." And they say that 90% of the textbook's tasks can be solved using AI.
Yes, 100%! – I want to shout after my literary hero. Algebra is pure logic, and the semiconductor brain does not make mistakes. Even elementary school students have heard this story.
“I watched my fourth-grader daughter dictate math problems to a voice assistant and showed her step by step how to solve the problem,” said Sergey, a father from Moscow.
There is something even more exciting. For example, one bank’s product no longer involves dictation or “solving” homework, but is an entire electronic lesson with a digital teacher and virtual classmates. The teacher explains homework, independent applications and other “demonstrations” necessary for learning history, geography, foreign languages, etc.
Frankly, it is not yet clear to what extent home-based AI classes will replace regular chatbots. Electrons take the path of least resistance, and so do children. They say that this project is also a project for parents. But they do not even have time to sit down and do homework, be it paper or electronic.
One thing is clear now: schools are not ready for such a technological transition. Digitalization, according to Lobachevsky, is carried out in parallel and is expressed in digital homework in all subjects. 14 examples of "real" algebra for eighth-graders, requiring more than an hour of intensive work. And the neural network copes in a matter of minutes. It is believed that schools and students will meet in the AI space, but only God knows when and where this will happen.
Last year, with the participation of the Department of Digital Development, there was a lot of noise about rumors that neural networks would soon start checking homework instead of teachers. I would also be crazy about handing in the Unified State Exam assignments! "Teachers" will become cyborgs, and the need for "natural" schools will disappear by itself. Teachers were very outraged. No pasaran! We will not be replaced by iron dummies...
Of course, this does not replace it. Instead, the personification of schooling is the Iron Blockhead, the bending robot from the famous cartoon about the Earth of the future. Even Ostap Bender. He simply takes advantage of the moment and feeds on the complexes and stupidity of people. Compared to this, even the example of the domestic ignoramus Mitrofanushka is positive. He still wanted to get married and improve his demographic situation ... but Bender's credo is to waste his life and do nothing. Unfortunately, today's robotization and digitalization of school homework seem to lead to exactly this.
