Residents of Novosibirsk filed a collective complaint to the prosecutor's office over the cutting down of trees on Uritsky Street

Local residents sent a collective appeal to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Novosibirsk Region demanding confirmation of the legality of the large-scale felling of trees on Uritsky Street.

The appeal states that more than 200 trees have been cut down since mid-September, including ash, elm, cedar and pine. Residents noted that the tree is healthy and shows no signs of damage.

The police were sent to the felling site, but the workers were unable to produce documents and coupons confirming the need for felling. The workers explained that the mayor's office acted in accordance with a contract concluded with individual entrepreneur A.V. Ashcheulov. The amount is 590,000 rubles. The contract includes the felling of 170 hazardous trees in the Zheleznodorozhny district.

Lawyer Evgeny Mitrofanov reported that the contract was concluded without a tender and that the removed trees were not recognized as hazardous in accordance with the Law on the Assessment of Green Spaces.
