Pyaterochka and Perekrestok shoppers are complaining en masse about marshmallow poisoning
Customers of the grocery chains Pyaterochka and Perekrestok complained about marshmallow products containing maltitol (a polyhydric alcohol obtained from starch, used as a sugar substitute and sweetener). Dozens of people who consumed marshmallows of the Giselle brand experienced negative symptoms, including bloating, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
"Buyers from Pyaterochka and Perekrestok complained about the marshmallow effect. <...> There are dozens of victims," the Mash Telegram channel reported. All the victims reportedly consumed Giselle products and experienced bloating, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
There have been previous reports of marshmallow poisoning. The product was reportedly purchased at a branch in Buckusville. The company has stopped selling the controversial marshmallow and pleaded not guilty.
