Efremov's lawyer said that the artist's health is deteriorating
Actor Mikhail Efremov, who is serving a sentence for a fatal accident, is experiencing serious health problems. The actor's lawyer Yuriy Padalko told Daily Storm about this.
The lawyer reported that the artist was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and his condition was worsening.
“This means that Efremov’s health is such that now he hardly even smokes,” Padalko said.
The lawyer added that despite his illness, the actor worked in the workshop with other prisoners. At the same time, no concessions are made to him. However, when Efremov is sick, he does not go to work and undergoes treatment in the medical department. He also refused to comment on when the actor will apply for parole, despite the fact that, according to him, he has not suffered any punishment and has positive characteristics in his public activities.
In response, Human Rights Council (HRC) member Eva Merkacheva stated that the actor could be released by the new year. She emphasized that Efremov's parole date is approaching.
"It's not surprising. He has a good character. Not a single punishment. In general, he is no longer a young man."
On June 8, 2020, Efremov, driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee, drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a van, resulting in the death of the injured driver of the vehicle. The Presnensky Court of Moscow found the actor guilty of the accident and sentenced him to 7.5 years in prison.
