Putin submitted to the State Duma a draft law on a comprehensive partnership with the DPRK
Cooperation between the countries will reach a new level and become officially strategic and comprehensive. An agreement on this was reached with the leadership of the DPRK in Pyongyang on June 19 of this year. Both sides agreed to cooperate in various areas. The agreement was concluded during negotiations between President Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The explanatory statement said that relations between the two countries are based on the principles of mutual respect, non-interference in internal affairs and equality. The parties strive to establish global strategic stability and fair multipolarity.
This document is intended to replace several agreements from previous years. During the visit of the Russian delegation to Pyongyang, Russian Presidential Advisor Yuri Ushakov explained that the new agreement is necessary in connection with the development of the geopolitical situation and qualitative changes in relations between the two countries.
As reported, not a single country opposed the new treaty. This document is primarily aimed at ensuring stability in the Northeast Asian region.
