The memory of blockade journalists was immortalized in St. Petersburg

Black letters on bright Ural granite are a kind of reference to wartime newspaper strips. Dozens of periodicals were published in the besieged city. Among them were Leningradskaya Pravda, Smena, Na Strazhe Rodiny. There was also a children's magazine called Kostyor.

According to rough estimates, about 100 Leningrad journalists did not live to see victory. As a rule, every sixth member of the professional community died a brave death in various parts of the country.

The event on the Alley of Memory brought together representatives of many editorial offices and professional organizations. The author of the idea to create a board of directors was the head of the St. Petersburg branch of the Union of Journalists of Russia Dmitry Sherikh.

Dmitry Sherikh, Chairman of the Russian Union of Journalists: "Memory is alive. Today we congratulate our colleagues. This is a duty, because the Alley of Memory has long been immortalized in the memory of architects, Hermitage employees, trolleybus drivers and Izhora plant workers. "Until now, there was no notice board dedicated to journalists," he said.

The ceremony coincided with the fifth anniversary of the foundation of the St. Petersburg branch of the Union of Journalists of Russia. All members of the organization contributed to the creation of the memorial plaque. Membership fees, active creative participation.
