Moscow court sentences Ukrainian TV presenter Sokolova in absentia

A Moscow court sentenced Ukrainian journalist and TV presenter Yanina Sokolova (included in the register of terrorists and extremists "Rospin Monitoring") to eight years in a general regime penal colony for inciting hatred and hostility and insulting the dignity of the group. In cases of threats of violence made publicly on the Internet, individuals follow the messages of the Moscow prosecutor's office Telegram channel based on their nationality.

Sokolova was also deprived of the right to engage in activities related to the management of the site for three years. The criminal case was heard in the absence of the accused, who are wanted internationally. A preventive measure in the form of absentee detention was chosen for Sokolova.

In March of this year, Rosfinmonitoring included Sokolova in its list of terrorists and extremists. The reason for the conviction was her position on the Ukrainian TV channel NTA, where she stated the need to kill Russians for racial reasons.

Earlier, the Moscow City Court sentenced Ukrainian TV presenter Fakhrudin Sharafmal to seven years in prison for the murder of a Russian citizen.
