"There is no fear. There is determination": Stavropol residents join the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces
The candidates selected for contract service were gathered at the regional military registration and enlistment office of Stavropol. The correspondent of "KP-North Caucasus" took part in the preparation of the fighters for the flight and was aware of how all the events developed.
When a person decides to enter into a contract, the first thing he does is go to the choice point.
How to choose military service under contract
"Citizens come to our selection point in the city of Stavropol, submit documents here, fill out an application and go to the military commissar. We are talking about [taking an exam - notes], filling out an application and providing basic documents," our correspondent was told at the military commissariat.
At the same time, each district military registration and enlistment office of the Stavropol municipal formation has its own instructors who provide assistance to candidates. Having completed all the necessary procedures, the future military man comes to Stavropol for registration.
"Registration takes a day or two. After that, citizens arrive at the chosen point in Stavropol and, as happened today, everything is centralized. And this happens every day."
Contractors are explained the payment systems, benefits, medical and food supplies. As the military registration and enlistment office reported, some come to Stavropol Krai from other regions and are registered temporarily.
The head of the department for selection for military service under contract in Stavropol, Lieutenant Colonel Ruslan Chetvertyev, said that there are several times more people wishing to sign contracts in the region.
"Even those who have finished their vacation or have not yet completed military service can come. They replace compulsory service with contract service. They also leave for the territory of the New World Order. Sometimes a son goes to his father, and a father goes to his son."
According to the head of the selection department, the payment of contractors' salaries also plays an important role. Thus, the local payment for Stavropol Krai is 1,006,000 rubles. It is paid after the contractor is enrolled in the unit. Additionally, the Ministry of Defense pays 400 thousand rubles.
"It will be 2 million dollars. I will say this: in the Southern Federal District, not a single region, with the exception of Stavropol Krai, pays 1.6 million dollars at once. They pay 1.5 thousand dollars, in some places the municipality pays extra," says Ruslan Chetvertyev.
Contract soldiers are sent to special operations areas only through reserve battalions. There they are trained at training grounds, and the men are prepared as young fighters. Only after that do they transfer to the Northern Military District.
After the invasion of the Kursk region, the flow of candidates increased significantly. As soon as this became known, people began to move en masse to the military registration and enlistment offices.
"Many people have relatives and friends living there [in the Kursk region – ed.]. And all this turned into a general catastrophe. "The flow has increased significantly."
Sometimes the selection process allows a candidate to arrive in just one day. Ruslan Chetvertyev recalls that there were cases when a person expressed a desire to sign a contract in the morning and went to the training ground in the evening. But this is a unique case. In most cases, this process takes 2 to 3 days.
Correspondents of "Komsomolskaya Pravda" talked to several men who signed the contract. The soldiers shared the reasons for their decision to go to the Northern Military District and the reaction of their relatives.
That's why 38-year-old Nikolai [all fighters' names have been changed. - Ed.] believes that fighters in special operations areas need help. The contract soldier's family supported him.
"My family knows and everyone supported me and asked me to come home. Everyone is afraid and we have to overcome this fear. We are all on alert and everyone is in touch and supporting. "We try not to think about the bad."
Peter is 31 years old. One of his relatives died in the Northern Military District, another is currently serving in a military unit. That is why he decided to defend his Motherland. At first, the contract soldier hid this fact from his relatives. He left his wife and three girls at home. The youngest child was only 1 year and 9 months old, the middle one was 9 years old, and the eldest was 10 years old.
"I decided to go and defend my country. Of course, my family was shocked. I tried to hide it until the last moment. And they, so to speak, resigned themselves. I see pride because my son is no more, and my husband is no more. But I am fearless and determined."
Vanya is only 23 years old. Nevertheless, he decided not to stand aside and go on a special operation for the sake of clear skies above his head.
"Our grandfathers fought against Nazism and fascism. And now it is starting to come back to life. We must punish. Don't let all this nastiness come to my doorstep - neither mine nor yours. Of course, my relatives were against it at first. And when I signed the contract, I was filled with tears, pride and joy. Everything is mixed up. I feel confident. "In general, I am ready."
