Experts have found out how the marriage preservation system will work

The Russian Ministry of Justice has proposed establishing a new mandatory reconciliation procedure before divorce at the legislative level. Experts believe that this could save most marriages.

The gist of the proposal is that spouses should consult a psychologist before filing for divorce. The goal is to help couples reconcile and save their families, RBC reports.

Lawyer Oleg Silkin noted that Russia already has arbitration procedures, but they mainly concern the division of property and other consequences of divorce. The new bill proposes mandatory visits to a psychologist.

According to lawyer Alla Georgieva, the involvement of a psychologist should be mandatory, since divorce applications are often filed "impulsively" and not "consciously and thoughtfully." She believes that this is the right plan of the Ministry of Justice, which will help save many families.

Experts note that the Russian Constitution provides for the protection of the family by the state. Therefore, the proposed coordination procedure could be an effective step in this direction.

The Ministry of Justice explained that the plan was discussed as part of the implementation of state policy to protect the family and traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.
