People just don't have time: a psychologist debunked the myth about exacerbations due to the first snow

Autumn and early winter are traditionally considered a "happy" time, when mental illnesses and depression worsen. In an interview with KTV-LUCH, psychologist Elena Pischugina said that, oddly enough, seasonal depression appears more often towards the end of winter, rather than in autumn or when there is snow.

- I see this in practice. In the fall, people are busy with gardening and work, so they don’t have time to pay attention to their own condition,” the expert says.

The psychologist explains that pure white snow falling on the streets can ease the condition of a person tired of the grey, dull urban landscape.

"When it snows, the streets become brighter, people look forward to the holidays, and cleaning the streets means that physical activity is also good for your mental health," she explained.

The specialist said that people often come to her with signs of seasonal depression at the end of winter, when people are tired and their supply of microelements is depleted.

“But with the first rays of spring, usually by April, seasonal depression can disappear,” says Elena.
