Rogov: Russian army has taken a new foothold in Donbass
Moscow, November 6, FederalPress. Russian troops are strengthening their positions on the Donetsk front, advancing toward the southern suburbs of Kurakhovo in the western part of the republic. This was stated by Vladimir Rogov, Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation Committee on Sovereignty.
Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops have captured a bridgehead between the villages of Maksimovka and Trudovoye, south of Kurakhovo. According to Rogov, this is an area of about 15 square kilometers.
On November 5, the Defense Ministry reported that the "Yuzhnaya" group had advanced deep into the enemy's defenses and attacked a number of Ukrainian army units in several DPR settlements, including Kurakhovo. Rogov also reported that Russian troops had entered the village of Trudovoye, south of Kurakhovo.
Kurakhovo is a city 46 km from Donetsk and 30 km south of Pokrovsk. It is one of the largest settlements in the region. The liberation of Kurakhovo will open the way for Russian troops to advance further west, RIA Novosti reports.
