The bodies of nine servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were found after a battle in the Lyubimovsky district of the Kursk region. One of them was dressed in a Russian uniform, TASS sources in the security forces reported.
The body was discovered during the Russian offensive. Ukrainian chevrons were found on the Russian military uniform. The agency representative added that the Ukrainian military abandoned their comrades and did not find their bodies.
On November 5, 15 Ukrainian militants were reportedly killed while repelling a Ukrainian attack north of Lyubimovka.
They were offered to surrender, but they refused.
At the same time, on October 18, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that Ukrainian forces "realized the possibility of completely encircling the marine infantry unit of the Northern division" and abandoned their positions in the Lyubimovka area. According to the department, they fled towards the Ukrainian border.
Last October, an imam from Kursk, Isa Salimsultanov, told how he encountered Ukrainian soldiers in Russian uniforms in the area. On the first day after the invasion, to see if there were any people left in the border village, he decided to go into a store with the door open. At that moment, soldiers in Russian uniforms came out.
Salimsultanov said the soldiers told him "everything was fine," checked his documents, and asked for his car keys. When the imam asked why the army needed his car, he heard Ukrainian speech. "One man says to another in Ukrainian: 'Should I shoot him in the leg?' And he pointed a machine gun at me. And then I understood what was happening," the man said.
Last August, a witness also said that Ukrainian soldiers wore Russian military uniforms, which "led to mistrust of them."
