"Night. Missile danger. You run to the bathroom to hide." The story of a family that moved to Tyumen from Belgorod
Maya and Maksim Antonov lived with their two children in a high-rise building near the center of Belgorod. The girl worked as a swimming coach, and her husband worked for a company that dealt with compressor equipment. The family's life changed after the start of the SVO. Belgorod began to be shelled. According to Maya, going to the grocery store became a real challenge, since sirens sounded several times a day, and shells fell near her house.
The biggest shelling happened on December 30, 2023. People were not ready for it. The siren sounded too late. We went out of town with the kids, and as soon as we left, the shelling started. We were lucky that we did not go to the center. Then we went home and hid. There was no New Year. The main square was bombed, and there was no Christmas tree. Everyone was sitting at home and worrying about their lives.
Last March, during the presidential elections, massive shelling began. It was constantly flying around our house - in the parking lot, in the car. The shelling happened during breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a military telegram channel. There, the Ministry of Emergency Situations notifies them first, a few seconds before, to warn them of the danger. They warn us. We run to the bathroom and hide. The shelling begins. Lucky. It didn't hit my house. We go out.
We are already beginning to understand when they will start filming. After the shelling, they immediately ran to the store, bought groceries and rushed home. When the siren sounds in the store, everyone is asked to hide, and the cash register does not work. We wait for them to get rid of the bomb and go on with their lives. And that's how people live. If there is a missile threat, run to the concrete shelter. Chaos begins on the road. When this happens, your car may turn red. Some people are very confused. One of our children was once hit in the street. To death. The country is always on the edge. Night. Missile threat. You run to the bathroom to hide.
In the apartment in Belgorod we sold all the furniture and equipment and took some things with us. In Tyumen we rented an apartment in the new residential area of Lesobaza. It is really nice here. We are convincing everyone to move here because everything is different. In Belgorod they said that you need to be more angry. And the people here are all smiling and friendly.
But we couldn't get used to it. And look at it through the prism of humor. Because it's fear. And our children still can't get used to the fact that there are no signs of missiles in the sky. Every time they see it, they say, "A missile!" And we explain that it's a plane and people are traveling. Well, someone in the yard was told that a drone crashed into the roof of a house, exploded, and the house caught fire. These are not the memories you want to leave with your children.
Earlier we told the story of Andrey Boyko. After the start of the Second World War, his family fell apart. Two sisters moved to a large city in Ukraine, and his mother, stepfather and brother remained in Artemovsk. Until recently, the man did not want to leave his homeland. I had to leave only after the military came to my home and said that it was time for me to evacuate. So, the man came to Tyumen to the More Hotel.
