The court returned the criminal case against three former employees of the colony to the prosecutor's office. This was reported to URA.RU by one of the participants in the process.
The defense returned the case on the violation of the charge of intentional damage to property. During the investigation, it is alleged that the defendants damaged the vehicle of a citizen in their custody. Lomakin noted that the statute of limitations for this article expired at the investigation stage. According to the recent version of the Law on Criminal Procedure, the employees of the Bureau of Investigations of the Investigative Commission should have closed this part of the case with non-involvement. The court did not have the authority to close the case and returned the case to correct the violations.
The editorial board contacted the court for comment. The department confirmed that the case was transferred to the prosecutor's office on October 16.
Earlier, URA.RU reported that former employees of two Kurgan colonies will stand trial on charges of abuse of power with the use of violence. One of the former prisoners is charged with sexual violence. They are also accused of intentional damage to property. The incident occurred in the summer of 2022 near IK-2 near the village of Prosvet in the Ketovsky District. Colony employees detained everyone suspected of smuggling contraband to prisoners. Soon after, the detained citizens reported beatings and abuse.
