Russia wants to ban the use of scooters by children under 16

Several key plans were agreed upon at a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Transport, Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Digital Development, the Ministry of Justice and the State Duma. One of the key proposals is to raise the minimum age for driving a personal mobile device to 16 years. At this age, citizens can obtain a license to drive a motorbike and motorcycle, while for cars and other vehicles the age limit remains at 18 years. The need to obtain a license to drive scooters and other SIM cards is also being discussed.

In addition, the authorities plan to ban scooters from pavements and roads. However, these restrictions will not be implemented immediately; first, it will be necessary to build the appropriate infrastructure to ensure the safety of pedestrians and drivers. The Department of Transport will work to formalize these rules and coordinate them with conference participants.

According to the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Transport, Yevgeny Moskvichev, Russia needs a separate law that clearly defines the rules and rights to use a SIM card. According to him, this territory currently remains unregulated, which creates problems on the roads, Izvestia writes.

Earlier, 360.ru wrote about the death of a boy riding a scooter. The child was hit by a car.
