The Investigative Committee has established the method of activating the bomb that killed war correspondent Tatarsky

Modern technologies have helped experts determine how the bomb that killed war correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky was activated. This was reported on the Komsomolskaya Pravda website regarding the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin.

According to him, investigators have several devices at their disposal that significantly facilitate the investigation.

“This includes photo and video equipment, playback devices, stationary and security equipment, auxiliary equipment, standardized suitcases, forensic light sources, non-linear positioning equipment, ground penetrating radar, metal detection equipment, explosive trace detection, unmanned aerial vehicles, hydroacoustic equipment, and others,” he listed.

For example, thermal imaging equipment and ground penetrating radar can detect caches and objects hidden deep underground, and forensic light sources can detect old biological traces.

At the site of the explosion in the cafe in St. Petersburg, where Tatarsky died, forensic experts found part of an explosive device, Bastrykin noted. Later studies helped establish the activation method.

Recordings from CCTV cameras helped to fully reconstruct the routes of movement of Darya Trepova (included in the register of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring).

In April last year, an explosion occurred at the Street Bar cafe in the center of St. Petersburg, resulting in the death of Tatarsky and the injury of 42 others.

It was established that Trepova brought a statuette equipped with an explosive device to a meeting with war correspondents.

In late January 2024, the court sentenced her to 27 years in prison. On May 20, the Military Appeals Court upheld her sentence.
