Will black become cheaper than red: they want to allow catching valuable fish with black caviar on the Volga

On the Volga, recreational and sport fishing may be permitted in the Saratov and Kuibyshev reservoirs. As Zasekin reports, the Council of the Samara Regional Duma was asked to contact the Federal Agency for Fisheries with a proposal to change the rules for fishing in the Volga-Caspian fish basin.

The number of sterlet in the river fell sharply in the 1980s. The fish is listed in the Red Book of the region. Since Soviet times, fry have been kept in the reservoir. The total number of sterlet is estimated at more than 500 thousand individuals.

According to the publication, the appeal raises the issue of excluding the sterlet of the Saratov and Kuibyshev reservoirs from the Red Book of the Samara Region. The issue of amateur fishing for sterlet also remains relevant. Fishermen's observations show that this fish is being caught more and more often, but now it is subject to a large fine under Article 256 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

Let me remind you that earlier it was reported that red caviar had risen sharply in price. According to experts, prices may rise even more by the end of the year. The main reason for the price increase is considered to be increased demand, which arose as a result of a significant reduction in the catch. However, sellers assure that there will be no shortage.
