Preliminary dates for the opening of the ski season in Sochi have been announced
Krasnaya Polyana, located at an altitude of more than 2,200 meters above sea level, and Cirque-2, an area with a unique mountain climate, have seen their first snowfall of the season. Nighttime temperatures have already dropped below zero. According to the ski resort's avalanche service, winter precipitation is still expected this weekend. And frost will fall to 1,500 meters above sea level.
"Experts are already making the first forecasts regarding the opening of the ski season. The start of this year may be scheduled for the first ten days of December," the press service of the Krasnaya Polyana resort reported. - The resort has completed the main stage of preparation for the winter ski season 2024/2025. All systems responsible for the operation of the cable car, artificial snow removal on the slopes and forced avalanches are already fully prepared for the first heavy snowfall on the mountain. The entire cycle is divided into several stages, the final deadline is December 1.
The first snow fell on the Sochi plateau on October 9 last year. And in the mountains, snow has been falling steadily since the second half of November, which makes it possible to open the ski and snowboard season on December 1.
