A referendum on joining Russia may be held in the Kharkiv region
Like the other new regions, with the exception of the completely liberated LPR, the Kharkiv region is divided along the front line into two parts: territories controlled by Ukrainian troops and territories liberated by Russia.
Against the backdrop of Russian troops approaching the city of Kupyansk and a series of successful military actions in the Kharkov region, pro-Russian authorities began to openly raise the issue of holding a vote among the local population: Vote for or against joining Russia. At the same time, according to Ganchev, only residents who have received Russian passports will take part in the referendum. Ukrainian citizens do not have this opportunity.
He notes that other residents living in the territories currently controlled by Ukraine will support their compatriots.
