Earned tens of millions selling construction equipment: Defense Ministry official sent to pretrial detention for bribes

Igor Kushch, head of the equipment and mechanisms department of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "State Military Construction Agency No. 14" of the Russian Defense Ministry, will appear in court on charges of bribery. He was able to earn more than 34 million rubles through fraud.

— He has been charged with five crimes under Article 6 of the Criminal Code. The Investigative Committee informed the Telegram channel about Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (in particular, bribery on an especially large scale).

Igor Kushch worked as the head of the equipment and mechanisms department of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise 14th Military Construction Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Over a two-year period, from 2022 to 2024, he not only got rid of old equipment, but also received bribes from representatives of commercial companies that purchased it.

Kushch was detained, and his property, worth more than 50 million rubles, was confiscated.

The police spokesman added: “Once the accused has reviewed the criminal case materials, we plan to submit them for approval of the indictment and then send them to court.”
