Regions with low birth rates will be subsidized to improve demographics

Experts from the Ministry of Labor and the Treasury are working on creating rules for distributing the budget to subsidize measures aimed at increasing the birth rate in areas where the problem is most acute. As DEITA.RU reports, more than 12 billion rubles will be allocated annually for these purposes.

Elena Semenova, Deputy Director of the Department of Demographic and Family Policy of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Russia, said that a document is being prepared that will regulate the procedure for the allocation and provision of subsidies to Russian regions. The funds will be used to develop infrastructure, services and special events to pay for pregnancy. The exact list of events is being established during the documentary work.

Labor Minister Anton Kotyakov reported that 12.5 billion rubles will be allocated annually from the state budget to support regions with low birth rates. Subsidies to the region will be paid for five years, starting next year.
