Nutritionist names budget alternative to red caviar

Red caviar has an exquisite taste, but its health benefits are exaggerated, says medical doctor Mikhail Ginzburg. In a commentary to Sputnik radio, the doctor mentioned budget and healthy alternatives to this delicacy.

"If you're looking for the benefits, you'll get even more benefit from regular chicken eggs and omega-3 fatty acid supplements. (...) Good substitutes include eggs and two to three servings of mackerel per week," Ginsburg said.

At the same time, nutritionists emphasized that it is impossible to obtain the same beneficial properties from river fish caviar as red caviar, since it does not contain omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D.

The doctor added that red caviar is a perishable product, so it is often frozen, defrosted and sold fresh. According to Ginzburg, this worsens the taste of the product. "Good red caviar is still a rare occurrence," the doctor added.

Ginsberg previously called it an anti-aging fruit and recommended eating mangoes to rejuvenate and maintain beautiful skin.
