"Rational Position": Political Scientist Explains Why Kazakhstan Is Not Rushing to Apply for BRICS Membership

Moscow, October 16, FederalPress. Political scientist Alexander Asafov noted that Kazakhstan is reluctant to apply for BRICS membership in the near future. In his statement, the expert noted that the process of joining this organization does not occur automatically or semi-automatically and requires compliance with a number of criteria.

Therefore, Kazakhstan prefers to take a wait-and-see position, observing the process of accession of other countries before making a final decision, the political scientist noted.

Earlier, political scientist Artem Kosorukov noted that one of the obstacles to Kazakhstan's entry into the BRICS bloc is Astana's desire for multi-vector interaction with all players in the international arena. That is why the Central Asian republics are actively participating in ongoing dialogue with other countries in the UN, the expert noted.
