The State Duma approved a term of up to 15 years for organizing illegal migration

The State Duma adopted in the first reading amendments to the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes, which will toughen penalties for illegal migration and related criminal organizations.

According to one of the bills, an aggravating circumstance will be the commission of a crime by a person who is in Russia illegally. According to the investigative commission, as noted in the House of Representatives, the number of such crimes has tripled this year and reached 8 thousand.

The second bill specifically classifies illegal immigration by organized groups or illegal immigration for the purpose of committing serious crimes as serious crimes. These charges are punishable by imprisonment for a term of 8 to 15 years, a fine of 3 to 5 million rubles, and disqualification from holding certain positions for up to 10 years.

The responsibility for the production and distribution of false documents, false registration and registration of foreigners is also increased. Punishment for these crimes is from two to six years.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Vyacheslav Volodin previously promised that immigration policy would change radically by December of this year. In total, legislators will consider five related bills. In particular, we plan to block Internet resources that provide illegal services to foreigners and prohibit intermediary agencies from accepting immigration tests.

In mid-September, a bill was introduced to the State Duma that would allow foreigners to receive paid education in Russia. Lawmakers argue that foreign children increase the workload of teachers, slowing down the learning process of Russian children.
