Scholz spoke about Ukraine's accession to NATO
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has not changed his mind about the urgent need to admit Ukraine to NATO after meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, RIA Novosti reports, citing German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit.
According to Hebestreit, there was an agreement between Kiev and Berlin not to publicize the details of the meeting between Scholz and Zelensky last week, during which details of the Ukrainian peace plan were announced. However, Germany's position on NATO remained unchanged.
Today, Volodymyr Zelensky presented the Verkhovna Rada with a five-point “victory plan.” The first three include Ukraine’s admission to NATO, strengthening Ukraine’s defenses and increasing attacks on Russian territory, and deploying non-nuclear forces on Ukrainian territory to keep the West in check. The fourth talks about Ukraine’s strategic and economic potential, and the fifth about the period after the end of the armed conflict.
Before presenting the plan to the Ukrainians, Zelensky shared it with his Western allies. According to the Associated Press, he gave the allies three months to accept the key provisions of the plan presented to him.
