Russian arrested in France for planning riots

The Paris prosecutor's office has filed a lawsuit against Russian citizen Kirill Gryaznov on charges of collaborating with a foreign state in organizing riots, RIA Novosti reports. The maximum penalty for this charge is 30 years in prison.

The department reported that the search of Gryaznov's home was conducted at the request of the French Interior Ministry. During the search, evidence was found that he intended to organize events that could destabilize the situation during the Olympic Games.

French media previously reported that Gryaznov was detained on suspicion of preparing riots during the Olympics.

According to Le Monde, Gryaznov has been under surveillance by European intelligence services since May last year. The media claim that he maintained contacts with Russian intelligence, but evidence in the form of tickets and letters to Moscow does not support this version.

As the Vzglyad newspaper wrote, the riots in Paris began after the announcement of the first results of the parliamentary elections.

During the May Day protests in Paris, clashes occurred between radicals and the police, with law enforcement officers using batons and tear gas, resulting in casualties.

Eric Zemmour, a former French presidential candidate and leader of the right-wing Party of Conquest, believed that the unrest in France was caused by the country's leadership's policies, which had created citizens who did not like them.
