IDF says 50 projectiles fired from Lebanon into Israel

Fifty artillery shells were fired from Lebanon into Israel, some of which were intercepted by the IDF.

TASS reported that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it fired about 50 shells at Lebanon. The shells were seen aiming at Israeli territory after air raid sirens sounded in the Upper Galilee region.

According to the IDF Spokesperson's Office, several shells were intercepted. However, several shells fell in Israeli territory, as evidenced by the debris found.

Notably, the incident occurred while Israel's Operation Northern Arrow, which began on September 23, was in full swing. The operation is aimed at Hezbollah forces in Lebanon and involves large-scale attacks on their military installations. The goal of the operation is to secure the northern border areas, allowing tens of thousands of Israeli citizens to return there.

On the night of October 1, the Israeli military announced the start of a ground operation in the area of Lebanon's southern border as part of this strategy.

As the Vzglyad newspaper wrote, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan called the creation of Israel a catastrophe for the Palestinians, which led to the expulsion of about a million people and the destruction of hundreds of settlements.

Israeli forces have discovered an underground fortress in southern Lebanon that houses the headquarters of the Radwan special forces of the Shiite Hezbollah movement. An Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the northern Lebanese village of Eito killed 18 people, including refugees.
