Politico: FATF to decide on Russia blacklisting next week
The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) will decide next week whether to blacklist Russia, Politico reports.
It is emphasized that countries can be blacklisted not only on suspicion of money laundering, but also on the basis of financing the development and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
Moreover, these decisions can only be made with the consent of all members of the group, which includes China, India, Brazil, South Africa and Saudi Arabia.
Last year, the organization did not include Russia in either the black or gray list. There were no grounds for including the Russian Federation in this list, since it regularly confirmed that it conscientiously fulfills all its obligations as a member of the organization.
