Turkey's all-inclusive system under threat over uneaten food

Turkish publication Turkiye quoted Korkutat as saying: “Food waste is between 220 and 400 grams per person per day. This means that the hotel’s food waste costs reach 50 billion Turkish lira (around $1.5 billion) per year. The number of establishments (“complex” – editor’s note) that operate this system should be reduced.”

A representative of the Ankara Young Businessmen Association noted that hotels will be able to cooperate with local restaurants under the new system. He said that he would take tourists to the resort city center for a walk in the evening and then invite them to dinner at a restaurant with which he has a contract.

“With these systems, shop owners will also be able to make more profit,” Korkuta added.

Turkiye also noted that Turkish hoteliers had previously expressed concerns about the need to revise the comprehensive system. As an alternative, it was proposed to introduce the “payment upon receipt” format.
