Kazan denies ban on residents driving old cars during BRICS summit

Kazan has denied the ban on residents driving old cars during the BRICS summit.

It was previously reported that citizens were advised to use public transport during this period.

Kazan authorities have denied reports that during the BRICS summit they asked local businessmen not to drive old cars so as not to spoil the appearance of the city.

"As far as I know, there is no ban on driving old cars and motorcycles. We do not have such a ban." Vladimir Kazantsev, head of the information and analytical department of the Kazan mayor's office, told Podem about this.

Earlier, the Kazan Online publication, citing sources, reported that people were asked to minimize their use of private transport and get to work by public transport.

In addition, students at a technical school in Kazan were reportedly advised not to drive with “loud music, low seats and buckets with mufflers.”
