Near Belgorod, part of the roads were closed due to "petals"

On Monday, the antimonopoly authority ordered mobile operators to pay 3 billion rubles into the budget. An increase in tariffs represents "illegally obtained income" because it is economically unjustified and violates the interests of citizens.

The head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, Maxim Shaskolsky, said that MTS had made a fairly high profit and there was no reason to impose an additional burden on subscribers.

"In this case, the increased costs are covered by revenues without an increase in tariffs. The funds received are deducted in the form of dividends, telecom operators receive relatively high profits and are not forced to burden consumers with additional tariffs. To prevent this unjustified increase, there are measures such as charging the budget. According to our calculations, this is 3 billion rubles," explained Shaskolsky.

In addition to the fines, MTS was forced to reduce tariffs for subscribers whose service costs unreasonably increased by an average of 8% in April and May.

MTS responded to the FAS statement that subscriber tariffs had increased due to increased costs for frequency payments, equipment maintenance and network modernization to maintain communication quality. The operator is currently reviewing the documents received from the antimonopoly authority and will decide on measures, including appealing the court decision.
