IRGC commander appears in public despite rumors of death

RIA Novosti, citing IRIB, reports that the commander of the Al-Quds special forces unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Brigadier General Ismail Kani, has appeared in public. This happened after Western media reported his death.

Kani's appearance came during a ceremony marking the return to Iran of the body of another IRGC military commander, Major General Abbas Nilforoushan, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut in late September.

Rumors of Ismail Kani's death had been circulating since tensions in the region escalated and Israel attacked Lebanon. His presence at the event denied the reports of his death.

According to the Vzglyad newspaper, the commander of the Al-Quds special forces, Ismail Kani, went missing after the Israeli airstrike on Beirut, but the deputy commander of the special forces said that he was continuing his activities after receiving news that Major General Ismail Kani was alive.
