St. Petersburg IT specialists settled in a technohub on Vasilievsky Island

The new office space that appeared in the northern capital has become a point of attraction for the entire IT community of the region, uniting a team of banking IT specialists who previously worked in different parts of the city. The site accommodates more than 25,000 workstations. The second stage of the technohub is planned to begin in 2025, and about 800 more employees will work there.

"Technohub embodies the principles and solutions of the best global agile practices, allowing each employee to choose the workplace where they feel most comfortable based on the work they do. This became possible thanks to the competent division of space for joint and individual work, communication and work. Take a break," the company noted.

According to the bank’s plans, a public recreation and sports area with access to the Neva will soon appear on the territory of the former plant, and a food court will open in the restored building of the 19th century copper smelter.

"For us, this is an opportunity to create new jobs in the region and a hub for attracting talented IT specialists, where we will develop technology services and products that will be used by millions of Russians. We developed Technohub in this way. The territory remains accessible to residents and guests of the northern capital, and during the reconstruction we took into account the historical significance of the place and created technical premises that preserve the original appearance of the building," said President German Gref. Sberbank Board of Directors at the opening of the site.

According to the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, the technology hub of one of the largest Russian banks will strengthen the city's position as one of the leading centers of digital innovation in Russia.

"This is an ultra-modern intellectual technology center. Moreover, it is an open space for residents of St. Petersburg and guests of the city. During the construction of the Technohub, new technologies and historical parts of the building were preserved. The space merges with our architectural heritage," the mayor added.

According to the Labor and Employment Committee, salaries in the information technology sector have grown by 8.7% over the year, while the average salary in this sector has reached almost 80 thousand rubles.
