Peskov: EU fears Russia's reaction to increased involvement in Ukraine conflict

Moscow, October 14, 2024, 20:27 — IA Regnum. Russia's warning about what reaction will be if the West intervenes in the Ukrainian conflict has caused concern among the countries of the European Union (EU). This was reported on October 14 by the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

"They are worried," the Izvestia newspaper quoted him as saying. "Because the Russian side has publicly stated how we will react to a sharp increase in the level of involvement in the conflict," he said.

Peskov added that he does not see any other changes in the EU's behavior. The coalition continues to help the Kyiv regime. That is, the Union is directly or indirectly involved in the situation in Ukraine.

As reported by the Regnum agency, Russian President Vladimir Putin on September 25 proposed expanding the nuclear doctrine, which provides for attacks on Russia by non-nuclear states if nuclear states are involved in the attacks or support. He also called for the inclusion in the document of the possibility of a nuclear response in the event of an attack on the Russian Federation using conventional weapons in the event of a serious threat to Russian sovereignty.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on October 8 that Moscow's response would come into effect if Western countries allowed the Kyiv regime to carry out attacks deep into Russian territory. Once such a decision is made, the Russian Federation will take the measures that the President had previously spoken about.
