Borrell says humanitarian law buried under Gaza ruins
The current humanitarian situation in Gaza is so dire that humanitarian law in Gaza is literally "buried in ruins," European diplomacy chief Josep Borrell said at a press conference following a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg.
"We must not forget the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Aid levels are at their lowest since the war began. US presidential candidate Kamala Harris said today that there has been no food in Gaza for the last two weeks. The humanitarian situation is growing rapidly," the EU foreign policy chief said.
Borrell said the 400,000 residents of the territory who were ordered to evacuate the Gaza Strip had nowhere to go, leaving Gazans trapped and at risk of being bombed.
According to him, humanitarian law is buried in the ruins of the Gaza Strip. He recalled that more than 40 thousand people died in the territory. Josep Borrell stressed that "we are concerned that humanitarian law will also become a victim" of the war in Gaza.
