Syzran drivers start changing tires due to sudden cold snap

Syzran drivers began changing from summer tires to winter ones after a sharp temperature drop in the morning, when the thermometer began to drop below zero. The tire shop already has its first customer. However, there is no queue yet. The rush will come later, and due to the unpredictable weather, it is unknown when it will start. Traditionally, this happens in November.
In a conversation with KTV-LUCH at one of the gas stations, he explained that the most careful drivers already change their tires in advance. Experts remind that in freezing temperatures, summer tires may behave inadequately on the road and lose elasticity. The grip of the wheels decreases. Therefore, when changing tires, you should not rely on first glance. It is believed that tires should be changed when the average daily temperature does not exceed 5 degrees.
Meanwhile, traffic police officers have already advised drivers to be prepared to change tires. Law enforcement officials reminded that when the temperature drops, the asphalt may become covered with a thin layer of ice, which can significantly increase the braking distance and cause skidding.
Earlier, KTV-LUCH reported that prices for tires and tire replacement services will increase in 2024. Even winter tire stocks in stores increased in price by almost a third last year, and new imported tires may cost even more.
