Peskov: Russia became the target of dividend pumping for the West after the collapse of the USSR
When the "honeymoon" began in relations between Russia and the West after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Western partners used our country exclusively as an object for pumping out dividends. The "Knowledge. This is the first" marathon, said Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president.
"America began to force the rest of the world to live by its rules, which it established in its own way and changed when and how it was convenient for it. It was a neocolonial regime, and its juices were squeezed out of all other countries. And after the collapse of the Soviet Union, our country, in the euphoria of what seemed to us to be sweet times, turned into an object pouring out dividends," the Kremlin spokesman said.
Peskov added that the Russian leadership then considered it possible to cooperate with the West on equal terms, but time and practice have shown that this is not the case. Now the world is moving towards a non-colonialist world order based on equality, common interests and mutual respect. In the new world order, large states will not tell small ones how to live correctly, and the vector of movement in this direction will no longer be irreversible, the press secretary of the head of Russia summed up.
Earlier, Life.ru reported on how the Russian Foreign Ministry responded to Donald Trump's highly probable victory in the US presidential election. The Foreign Ministry recalled that the Russian Federation will cooperate with all US administrations based on protecting its national interests and continuing to achieve the goals of special military operations in Ukraine.
