Russia Wants to Ban Dark Stores in Residential Buildings
The Russian Ministry of Construction has proposed banning dark burials in residential buildings, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.
An appeal was sent to the Minister of Construction and Housing and Utilities Irek Faizullin with a request to determine the legal status of dark stores and restrict their placement in residential buildings. The author of the appeal was Svetlana Razvorotneva, Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing and Utilities.
She noted that in recent years, Russians have often complained about dark stores that store products and pack retail orders for home delivery to customers by courier. Due to the booming commercial activity of the market, dark stores themselves have begun to be located en masse in apartment buildings. Despite the fact that it is officially prohibited to organize a warehouse at home, dark stores appear due to the lack of an official definition of the term "dark store". Residents of such buildings complain about the constant unloading of goods in the courtyard, noise and the accumulation of couriers, who often behave badly.
Previously, Russians were advised to rent out the facades of apartment buildings and state-owned properties. The money received can be used for business needs, including repairs, utilities, landscaping and other purposes.
